Ghost, Moth

They want you out of this
House of forgotten tea in which you are floating
Like a calcium slip
This house in which you yield
As a sweep of onion skin
In old dishwater
Disgusted by yourself hollowed out
In the flesh of an armchair
An indent too worldly

In the middle of the night
Your own body scares you
Emboldened with its worthiness
How did your unconscious have the nerve
To dream and to stretch?

You apologise to the dark’s deepest creases
And slump into this part of your season
To watch the moths’
Nightly arrhythmia
Now the light looks different
They want you out of this house
