Peace Offering
talons rip
the bleating heart
sparkle berries drip
their wine
grasp and grab
five inches deep
visible by July
flutter wings
a pink profusion
brown hangs
on the vine
threads of silver spun
dog-eared leaves
from the book of life
death slithered nigh
sipping syrupy tea
from a golden cup
they laugh
you cry
I peel potatoes
with Paganini.
