I wanted to sleep

I wanted to sleep,
but then I decided to cycle expressively
into an unknown village.
I remember not looking out for traffic
And then arriving at greenery, village leaves,
And an amber sea by the curtains of a cottage.

I looked through a diamond, latticed window,
At shapes of mild deer and hares upon a vase.
A friendly girl said ‘Hello’,
and I was momentarily
taken from out of the smiles of aspect flowers.

A cushion on a swing set beneath a great tree
made me believe
I was in a magical village,
even amid the wrappers and puddles on the ground.

I left that village
and cycled into great trees.

The pretty flood of winter in my mind.
