30th July

We have eaten and loved and the sun is up,
we have only to sing before parting:
Goodbye, dear love. Basil Bunting

We drank red wine
out of mugs
dressed in tree
finger cracks

smiled stained teeth
watched the candle
drenched in its own wet self
flicker
played Risk, Pontoon,
stripped, fucked, creaked
on the camp bed
and listened
to the roof
dressed in drumming
rain, hot we slept
woke each other up
and held on

waited for morning
us naked
and the birds dressed as birds.
