Walking
As Bashō says, are not the very days,
the years themselves wanderers?
And all of this life a ramble across
a heath, through winter woods to the field
where the fallow deer gather at dusk.
Mark Rutter’s poems have appeared in many magazines, including Magma, Other Poetry, The Rialto, Interpreter’s House, and Ink, Sweat and Tears.
