SEARCH AND DESTROY
I hear the wind
rubbing palm leaves
together; the
sound of speeding
cars, engines, birds;
a woman's sneeze,
children laughing,
someone whistling;
old men and old
women talking,
sirens, alarms;
there is always
something searching
to destroy the
silence I seek.
