examination

all I remembered after was the distance
from the doorway to the instrument

and light from the enormous semi-circular windows
shining off the parquet
unevenly, in the places it was broken

chairs and stands and forgotten things in corners
and how far it was to walk
out, watching my step

to walk back afterwards
to the doorway and the stone stair

and in between there was nothing

in the part I would be questioned on
there was nothing I remembered
