Bluest Eyes
I was born the wrong sex on the opposite coast of where I was conceived,
connived, contrived to be brought into this world. God told my father many
things about me that proved to be lies. God, my nemesis brought the belt
down on me, humbled and bloodied me. My mother was happy to see me,
still tells me I have the biggest blue eyes in the world. Even after the tumor
wiped clean her memory of family vacations in Glacier National Park when
the bears walked through our camp each night, or the hundred events of
being a teenager, she still remembers the day they put me in her arms.
