Forecast

tomorrow will see frequent showers

and occasional sunny intervals

red poppies and purple cornflowers

will push up through silent motorways

temperatures are set to soar

in the coming week which may set off

thunderstorms    passenger planes will transform

into golden eagles and white storks

rhetorical bluster will falter and shrivel

in politicians’ mouths     the brilliant sky

will release its cargo of lyrical poems

rivers will run with healing dramas

and Aristotelian fish contribute new grammars

gigantic hailstones will dance

among bright bee-eaters and chattering parrots

a virgin in a burgeoning garden won’t give

the beckoning fruit a second glance

the sun will rise on a new beginning

and southerly winds will ease to a gentle breeze.
