A week in the life
Monday
Today, a scrum
of clouds hides the sun.
No stars
in the night sky (the night
that is completely hers)
as she twists
the kitchen tap – cold water
splashing into the bowl.
Wednesday
Under bitter skies
long, frosty days,
a chill in the air
echoing
on the wrong side
of the sunlit street.
Friday
She remembers being
covered in breeze.
Remembers the harbour
of red brick and old stone.
Gulls diving
into the sea.
