NO KNIFE NEEDED

No knife needed to cut and slash,

or heated iron to burn the flesh,

in memory

’s blast the mind recoiled.
Flayed beneath history

’s lash,
recall loss and failure and fash

about the past. Life is uncoiled,

shredded, no knife needed.
