The unusual hobbies of Tom’s mother
She likes to buy cars
And leave them in inconvenient places.
An expensive hobby,
But she likes to watch them from afar
And wait for a slender constable
To post a POLICE AWARE
Note under the windscreen wiper.
She enjoys it even more
From afar,
When they use the self-adhesive kind
That cling to door panels
And boots
In an attempt to emphasise
The level of ‘awareness’.
She likes the feeling that awareness gives her.
It makes her feel,
Well,
Aware. From afar.
But what she likes the most
Is the slender constable.
Her plans
And investments are ruined
When a constable arrives
That doesn’t tick all her boxes.
But she hates it most
When people don’t come
Or turn up late.
She hates it most when no one is even aware
Of her.
When she is alone.
Without cars or tickets
Or slender constables.
JJ Flames is a poet, writer and musician. He has just completed his first major collection of poetry. A Headbanger’s Guide to Tranquillity which is, as yet, unpublished. He is a balanced individual (particularly for a headbanger) and wants you to believe that his source of inspiration is an entity called ‘The Super-Moth’. This is his website www.jjflames.com
