Plague

It came
   little hands
   little eyes
   little feet
the tiny dragon
in dreams

it grew wings

breathed fire
   green scales
coming with the moon

my dream
more than the fog

carries the dead
wherever they go.

Biosphere

Inside
it rains
sweat off the brow
forming clouds
and rain again
     butterflies cluster
     in dust
elephants gather at
watering holes
           the sun     the sun
persistent deity
always the sun—

it rains
it always rains
heat rises
and falls as rain.
