Last Night

the moon like one of your fingernails

hangs in the sky

blotting out sleep

a child’s dreams have held me

awake all night

daddy’s sorry daddy’s sorry

daddy won’t do it again

across the great gulf from your place in hell

are you sorry, daddy?
