For the Birds: Haiku Sequence
overhead
a flapping crow
windless day
fluff or flarf
early autumn wind
warbling songbirds
ahead of the storm
the prickle of coastal cypress
pelicans tacking home
without a rival
the jay is silent
buried treasure
the lead sea
under a cloud bank
piercing cormorants
scan the surface
dipping gulls lost in mist
or was it the sea?
