Early European Painting

Another painting,
John the Baptist
in the desert this time,
and then next up,
Madonna and child
followed by a saint being stoned
with angels in the wings
(no pun intended)…
centuries old,
almost rupturing with faith,
how can I tell these beatific faces
that I prefer Picasso’s Cubist nudes,
Magritte’s locomotive
roaring out of the fireplace,
Hopper’s Nighthawks,
Pollock’s abstract impressionism.
A guard is eying me
in case I mess with the art.
St Stephen is eyeing me
and my handful of stones.
