{"id":9609,"date":"2015-11-30T09:00:48","date_gmt":"2015-11-30T09:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=9609"},"modified":"2015-10-23T13:50:09","modified_gmt":"2015-10-23T13:50:09","slug":"john-alwyine-mosely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/john-alwyine-mosely\/","title":{"rendered":"John Alwyine-Mosely"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Shoemaker Writes at his Window<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today I write to tell you I saw Sarah again<br \/>\nher neck curved, each move of ballet grace<\/p>\n<p>I took her calfskin shoe and placed a warm,<br \/>\ninnocent foot on plain paper to trace<\/p>\n<p>Then, as now, she is moved to speak of the patterns,<br \/>\nand shapes of signs that make us die or live<\/p>\n<p>She laughed and mentioned that when six, Karsula,<br \/>\nthe cow chased her down the neighbours field<\/p>\n<p>so she learned not to cry out loud when running<br \/>\nWe smiled and told stories of weddings &#8211; mine<\/p>\n<p>clean fresh water and a simple soup, hers, herrings,<br \/>\napples, and a plain sponge cake<\/p>\n<p>We kissed cheeks and said, &#8216;Let&#8217;s meet again&#8217;<br \/>\nfor we have become scratchy voices on tapes<\/p>\n<p>a pair of weekend monuments for bored picnics<br \/>\nwhile out of sight, the shoes stack again<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Alwyine-Mosely<\/strong> is a poet from Bristol, England who is new to published poetry.
