{"id":9356,"date":"2015-10-23T08:00:16","date_gmt":"2015-10-23T08:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=9356"},"modified":"2015-09-23T10:26:15","modified_gmt":"2015-09-23T10:26:15","slug":"noel-canin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/noel-canin\/","title":{"rendered":"Noel Canin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two Humming Birds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I phone the accountant,<br \/>\nanswer emails, tidy the flat,<br \/>\nput papers away in the file<br \/>\nwhere they belong.<\/p>\n<p>From my desk, I hear the birds<br \/>\nspeaking their messages,<br \/>\nthe neighbor putting away cups and plates<br \/>\non the shelf where they belong.<\/p>\n<p>Up north, two humming birds<br \/>\ndive past a friend\u2019s open door.<br \/>\nJoy, she said, that means joy.<\/p>\n<p>Here at my desk,<br \/>\nI listen to the birds<br \/>\nas they whistle on the air,<br \/>\nthe trees as they creak<br \/>\nbeyond the window screen,<br \/>\nand I think about things<br \/>\nand where it is that<br \/>\nthey belong.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noel Canin<\/strong> is a South African who has lived in Israel since 1968. She has two children and five grandchildren and currently lives in Herzeliya. In addition to writing poetry and prose, she is also a translator from Hebrew into English. Noel is a Reiki Master and works with people through healing and massage. She has also worked with special needs children through touch and movement.\u00a0 She is training to be a Hakomi psychotherapist. Noel Canin\u2019s first collection of poems, Let the Rain Listen For Me, was recently self-published by Xlibris.
