Precise metre, several painstaking drafts,<\/span>
all darlings murdered in cold blood, one finished<\/span>
conceit running through it like life-rafts<\/span>
on a ship. Neither Shakespearean or Petrachan<\/span>
in its composition. Can be read at parties<\/span>
or funerals. Ensured to affect mood for all occasions:<\/span>
can be typed up and hung in the pantry<\/span>
or lounge. Some marks of development in ninth line \u2013<\/span>
regular stresses, enjambement, iambic pentameter,<\/span>
accessible scansion, plausible rhyme.<\/span>
Rejected by <\/span>Iota, Smith\u2019s Knoll<\/span> and <\/span>Magma<\/span>
(not to mention <\/span>The Dark Horse<\/span> and <\/span>PN Review<\/span>.)<\/span>
