The Downs<\/span>
 

<\/span>Getting out of town for the day<\/span>
was disappointing what with the chewed up grass<\/span>
the sun like honey in porridge<\/span>
and the high point that never came into view.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Some bloke was setting up an aerial<\/span>
out of the boot of his car<\/span>
as though signalling for help, and a pair of tights<\/span>
were trodden into the mud.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Apart from dogs chasing flying rings<\/span>
and a few other human beings<\/span>
exhibiting the same unfathomable behaviour as us<\/span>
I saw no other signs of life<\/span>
 <\/span>
but being with you I didn\u2019t mind it all that much.<\/span>
