Willow divas wail<br \/>\nsoprano dramas in a minor key.<\/p>\n<p>In the blades of grass, whispers coil. Spirals whisper<br \/>\nwhen the south winds sigh, ruffle and caress<br \/>\nthe soft green hair of graves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Susan Castillo Street<\/strong> is a Louisiana expatriate and academic who lives in\u00a0the Sussex countryside.\u00a0She is Harriet Beecher Stowe Professor Emeritus, King\u2019s College, University of London, and has published a book of poems titled\u00a0<em>The\u00a0Candlewoman&#8217;s Trade<\/em> (Diehard Press, 2003).\u00a0 Her second collection, <em>Abiding Chemistry<\/em>, is published by Aldrich Press and was reviewed on IS&amp;T on 1st July.\u00a0 Her poems have appeared in <em>The Missing Slate, The Stare\u2019s Nest, Nutshells and Nuggets, I Am Not a Silent Poet, Snakeskin, Literature Today, York Mix<\/em>), She is a member of three poetry groups, The Conduit Street Poets (London), 52, and Slant 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Voices Oaks rumble in deep bass that thrums straight down their roots, draws from the earth.
