\ngranting hope
\nto cast-aside dinners,
\nrejected repasts,
\nthe forgotten vegetable hiding
\nat the bottom of fridge or freezer,
\nunnamed, unadorned animal parts
\nyour grandmother knew intimately.<\/p>\n
\nthat keeps on giving, a heritage
\nof choices and second chances,
\nbubbling with life
\nand hidden secrets
\nand of such potential longevity
\nit is almost
\nprimeval, eternal soup.
\nWho knows what
\nit may become next?<\/p>\n
