I watched it set under a red sky.<\/p>\n<p>They brought in glass, stacked it high,<br \/>\na lofty frame to catch the sun and moon.<\/p>\n<p>It was when I was growing you, drinking water all day<br \/>\nto stop you from wilting in the heat;<\/p>\n<p>when my belly was full of your tiny bones<br \/>\nand fast-thumping heart;<\/p>\n<p>when you sucked in my skin for your skin,<br \/>\nsilently, in nights too hot for sleep.<\/p>\n<p>I lay there, imagining your feet<br \/>\ngently tapping my hands.<\/p>\n<p>I heard a bird shuffle on the sun room roof<br \/>\nand wondered if today would release us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abigail Meeke<\/strong> lives in Devon with her husband and baby daughter.
