Open fires burn<\/span>
Outside homes, while<\/span>
Children favour disquiet over sleep.<\/span>

 <\/span>
5 o\u2019clock darkness reminds the shopkeeper \u2013<\/span>
Run from the evening dogs,<\/span>
Or fall with your brothers by the wayside.<\/span>
 <\/span>
 <\/span>
Oak trees shed faithfully<\/span>
Year upon year. Sorrowful eyes looking onward<\/span>
Downward and with pity.<\/span>
 <\/span>
 <\/span>
October blossom would cascade, were it not<\/span>
For the state of the earth,<\/span>
Hatred already seeded beneath.<\/span>
