I saw the split<br \/>\nin the rock and slit in. This is home,<\/p>\n<p>I suppose, to fit like a coin in a slot,<br \/>\ncrimped at the edges, unsure<\/p>\n<p>what will pay out. I walked around<br \/>\nbears asleep, aware of my insides, pink<\/p>\n<p>as niceties ringleted through me<br \/>\nfrom my skull to my socks. The bones,<\/p>\n<p>everywhere, I made my chair. I sucked<br \/>\na swallow\u2019s heart like a pebble, put my feet<\/p>\n<p>up on fur and waited for spring to slap me<br \/>\nin the face, let me smell my own blood.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Angela Readman<\/strong>&#8216;s poetry was published by Salt. She has since won the Mslexia Poetry Competition, The Essex Poetry Prize, and been commended in Cafe Writers, The Arvon International Poetry Competition, and the Cardiff.
