IF SALMON RUN<\/span>
 <\/span>

So many fish are clearing the dams this year.<\/span>
Thanks to the heavy rainfall of course<\/span>
but maybe the urge for the spawning places<\/span>
is riper than weariness and gravity.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Look out the window, Christine…<\/span>
those silver bodies, one after the other.<\/span>
Enough for fishermen, enough for bears,<\/span>
enough for the embrace of watching.<\/span>
 <\/span>
And to think it's their own death<\/span>
that's calling out to them.<\/span>
What you and I limp toward,<\/span>
they make for with such speed.<\/span>
 <\/span>
And it's the sheer numbers<\/span>
that convince us this will be a good year.<\/span>
Who hurts when there's salmon running?<\/span>
Against the current, the good hearts soar.<\/span>
