Her eyes are sunk in her head.
\nGod preserve all\u00a0 Christian men.
\nHer eyes are flecked with the forest.
\nGod bless us, Christe Amen.<\/p>\n

Four women with murder in their hands
\ndrew me by the hair,
\nflung me on top of a hay-mow
\nand violated me there.<\/p>\n

Her ears hear devil-breath.
\nGod preserve all Christian men.
\nHer clothes reek simply of death.
\nGod bless us, Christe Amen.<\/p>\n

She tumbled over a style and fell,
\nshe wasn’t in pain when she rose.
\nThey threw a child from the top of a house;
\nhe didn’t hurt one little toe.<\/p>\n

Her teeth chatter and fright.
\nGod preserve all Christian men.
\nHer tongue flicks like snakes of the night.
\nGod bless us, Christe Amen.<\/p>\n

In black jagged nightwind the women cavorted,
\ntwisting and turning at speed.
\nNot men, not beasts, the watchers agreed
\nthe shapes were other than these.<\/p>\n

Her hair breaks brittle as hay.
\nGod preserve all Christian men.
\nHer chin sprouts stiff and grey.
\nGod bless us, Christe Amen.<\/p>\n

She took a child out of bed
\nto suck the blood from the navel
\nby striking its tum with a nail,
\napplying the law of the devil.<\/p>\n

Her skirts lift, riddled with vermin.
\nGod preserve all Christian men.
\nHer walk is the walk of the guilty.
\nGod bless us, Christe Amen.<\/p>\n

Her eyes are sunk in her head.

\nHer eyes are the eyes of the dead.
