Private Intention<\/span>


I watch the candle <\/span>
gutter to a nothing.<\/span>

By now she\u2019s home, he lies upstairs,<\/span>
coughing louder when she returns.<\/span>

His bed\u2019s a sculpture of newspapers,<\/span>
a cigarette weaves from an ashtray.<\/span>

The cough harsh.<\/span>
Nights only long.<\/span>

New Year\u2019s Day: A Shimmering<\/span>


Between stream and snow packed bank<\/span>
a centre parting,<\/span>
slowly becoming a question mark.<\/span>

A man walks a dog,<\/span>
we meet at the tunnel entrance,<\/span>
in the distance an icy shimmering.<\/span>
