My tea cools<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>as I swallow his news.<\/p>\n<p>The street heaves and yaws;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>cherry blossom froths around the steps<\/p>\n<p>and caught in the swell, a shopping bag pulses,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>a jellyfish against the rail.<\/p>\n<p>I throw my head back and call and call and call.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Samuel Tongue<\/strong> has published poems in magazines including <em>The Red Wheelbarrow, Northwords Now, Magma, Gutter, <\/em>and <em>The List<\/em>. He received a Callan Gordon Award from the Scottish Book Trust in 2013 and is working on his first full collection.
