The Editor<\/span>
 <\/span>
Maxwell used to eat by swallowing great<\/span>
bunching fistfuls of food,<\/span>
gargling thick spills of cooling gravy.
Throat cluttered with cigar smoke \u2013<\/span>
he would cough,putting an abrupt end to
conversation.<\/span>
Punctuating peppered hacks with one dab
of the finger \u2013<\/span>
the boys twitched,nervous,taking notes.<\/span>
 <\/span>
An  orbit  rotated  round  this  figure
\u2013 himself, as  stock still as  a stone.<\/span>
A braised  chunk  of  ham  pushed  pink
flesh  between  strong  fingers \u2013<\/span> honey
glaze dripped and pooled on  the plate.<\/span>
He  rumbled  instructions,  a  baritone
scrape,<\/span>
and  the  cutlery  of  those  listening<\/span>
hovered  above  the  porcelain  waiting
for that final cut.<\/span>
