i)<\/span>
a couple of things I\u2019m sure of:<\/span>
the sea, green with envy for the smoothness<\/span>
of the sky<\/span>
the bulb of stubble you\u2019d missed that morning<\/span>
but as for why I came?<\/span>
or why I thought you\u2019d asked me?<\/span>
I blame the sea;<\/span>
the waves seem broad enough to take the weight of it,<\/span>
and the weight of ships, on their backs<\/span>

ii)<\/span>
there must be better bodies than yours<\/span>
where the nipples are perfect, and the belly<\/span>
doesn\u2019t inch over the rim<\/span>
of the boxers like a reluctant glacier<\/span>
there must be better kisses<\/span>
slowdown, slowdown,<\/span>
there must be better love than this<\/span>
but all I\u2019ll say for you<\/span>
is that you took away desire<\/span>
for the search<\/span>

iii)<\/span>
you\u2019re asleep on the half-eaten sandwich of the bed<\/span>
it\u2019s the first of November, it\u2019s 11:35<\/span>
in the vodka-cheap light of a moon<\/span>
made blurry from frost<\/span>
you blush and shake your feet, as if there were a dream<\/span>
of dancing inappropriately<\/span>
there is nothing new to say about the sea <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n
