Part fact, part dream. For example, to say the word<br \/>\n\u2018lemon\u2019 is to taste it. To repeat the word \u2018lemon\u2019 is to bring it into the light of<br \/>\nday.<\/p>\n<p>Add a knife to this scenario. Hear the white heat of blade call out to the rind\u2019s cool<br \/>\nseal. A sharp exhale as steel enters fruit and a pale yellow light leaves the<br \/>\nworld.<\/p>\n<p>When a lemon breathes it\u2019s a sick woman breathing. It\u2019s the pure acid breath of her<br \/>\nmind which lights the room with a single thought: why do I pursue impossible<br \/>\nthings?<\/p>\n<p>Like the lemon, whose independence from sorbet, gin &amp; tonic and cheesecake is<br \/>\nwidely recognised, the woman \u2013 having no allegiances \u2013 makes a light of her<br \/>\nown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy McCauley<\/strong> was born in 1981 and grew up in Warwickshire and North Yorkshire. She has worked as a bartender, busker, cleaner, life model and waitress.
