The girls run ahead;<\/span>
Leaping gazelles,<\/span>
Across the road and they\u2019re off,<\/span>
Looking eighteen but probably thirteen.<\/span>
The boys drag behind;<\/span>
Unruly seagulls,<\/span>
Jostling and jibbing each other,<\/span>
Looking ten but probably thirteen,<\/span>
The tallest boy strikes out,<\/span>
He runs to the girls,<\/span>
And bravely puts his arms around a blonde one.<\/span>
She shrugs him off,<\/span>
And he makes a face.<\/span>
\u2018Grow up!\u2019 she scolds,<\/span>
And then she runs after her cohorts.<\/span>
Looking eighteen but probably thirteen.<\/span>
