On Considering Buddha While Pissing <\/span>

Buddha, decapitated and neatly mantled<\/span>
peers frozenly at my navel.<\/span>

Two years to notice the absurdity <\/span>
of which she likes to call decor.<\/span>

Take Christ, who with open arms<\/span>
is nailed upon a canvas and hung above our bed.<\/span>

Or what of Elvis, face smeared with grease-<\/span>
spat bacon fat. He appears happy posing<\/span>

at the photo clad fridge. Even death has<\/span>
its place on the shelf, door-stopping the books.<\/span>

Each new year\u2019s eve a single cigarette and <\/span>
a thimbleful of red wine we leave-<\/span>

and come morning, untouched we acknowledge<\/span>
absence, discarding it with dry tears.<\/span>

Yet Che remains exiled in the dark lands of<\/span>
the attic, considered irrelevant by my love-<\/span>

While Buddha remains, observing the path of my piss.<\/span>
