Buttercup<\/span>

The boy was coaxed into the room<\/span>
clad for the first time<\/span>
in his new school uniform<\/span>

nothing was said<\/span>
the heavy silence in the dim light<\/span>
warned of a new unknown<\/span>

leaden on the bed<\/span>
his fearful eyes spoke<\/span>
but nothing else moved.<\/span>

After purposeful nudging<\/span>
young lips sought the rough cheek<\/span>
bright as buttercup in the sweated sheets.<\/span>
