{"id":5463,"date":"2013-10-07T09:00:37","date_gmt":"2013-10-07T09:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=5463"},"modified":"2013-10-04T09:24:27","modified_gmt":"2013-10-04T09:24:27","slug":"ella-chappell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/ella-chappell\/","title":{"rendered":"Ella Chappell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is exactly what I want<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is exactly what I want:<br \/>\n(though I didn\u2019t know it)<br \/>\n5 inches of silence<br \/>\nthe recluse\u2019s delicacy<br \/>\na softing down<br \/>\ncold and geometry fretworking<br \/>\ninto a slow lattice<br \/>\nan excuse for feeling<br \/>\nthe creak of earth<br \/>\nbeneath you<br \/>\nhydrangea heads shudder<br \/>\nunder caps of white.<\/p>\n<p>The history of snow fall<br \/>\nand snow melt<br \/>\nhere in the dimpling surrey hills<br \/>\ncan be navigated by<br \/>\nthe ancient smell of coal-driven steam<br \/>\nand the secret trickle of water through chalk<br \/>\nbubbling back up at a spring<br \/>\nheavy with minerals.<br \/>\nFat edible snails<br \/>\nwith cream white shells<br \/>\nare camouflaged now<br \/>\nand whether I\u2019m still thinking of you<br \/>\nstill still thinking<br \/>\nof you<br \/>\nor whether I\u2019m beating cheesecake<br \/>\nwith a wooden spoon<br \/>\nbeing snowed-in<br \/>\ninstructs time to be easy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ella Chappell<\/strong> recently graduated from the Creative Writing Masters in Poetry at the University of East Anglia.
