Like limestone stacks eroded<\/p>\n<p>to a rock-pool, my diaphragm depresses<\/p>\n<p>lifts then strands the tide<\/p>\n<p>falls, two tributaries whirl across my stomach;<\/p>\n<p>meandering violent words<\/p>\n<p>collide, into\u00a0 a sinkhole abandoned<\/p>\n<p>where a line of moss grows up<\/p>\n<p>into the O, marks the spot where<\/p>\n<p>purple petrol gold floats.<\/p>\n<p>The scar of appendectomy that holds<\/p>\n<p>a flammable puddle of dissolved<\/p>\n<p>acid fumes, hydrochloric vented plumes<\/p>\n<p>I breathe, fire.<\/p>\n<p>I breathe, fire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew Bevington<\/strong> is an English student at Ruskin College Oxford studying Creative Writing &amp; Critical Practice.
