My son told me he loved me and hugged me for two minutes<\/span>
In my former hallway.<\/span>
My daughter cried as I was leaving and begged me<\/span>
To take her with me.<\/span>
The heat\u2019s on. The bed\u2019s warm.<\/span>
The rent\u2019s paid and Little Walter just followed <\/span>
Fats Domino on the radio.<\/span>
Valerie may call me later tonight<\/span>
And we\u2019ll see each other twice<\/span>
In two weeks\u2019 time.<\/span>
 <\/span>
So if my poetry seems melodramatic to you<\/span>
And at odds with what you usually publish,<\/span>
And the font I used offends you<\/span>
Well,<\/span>
Don\u2019t give it another thought.<\/span>
I\u2019m fine.<\/span>
