I can\u2019t tell my great, great aunt<\/p>\n<p>from my niece, who must be in her twenties<\/p>\n<p>by now, I don\u2019t remember.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Women called Emma are everywhere. There is a monopoly.<\/p>\n<p>It makes me think of carousels and chipping my teeth<\/p>\n<p>on Brighton rock, where one of my Emmas took me<\/p>\n<p>one May half term when I was all short-shorts<\/p>\n<p>and long socks. I shove many random objects in that box.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I cannot separate my colours, ever.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot hold an encyclopaedia in one hand,<\/p>\n<p>a tube map in the other, and tell you what weighs more,<\/p>\n<p>which will take you farther. I\u2019m not a Libra.<\/p>\n<p>I am a Sagittarius. The zodiac does not get enough respect \u2013<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know why we can\u2019t have science and Jesus both,<\/p>\n<p>or aliens and ghosts and bus tickets. I cannot separate<\/p>\n<p>my crop circle leaflets from my Church fundraiser letter.<\/p>\n<p>I will put these in the box named after my father<\/p>\n<p>who died some years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My father had a telescope I was allowed to put my eye to<\/p>\n<p>on special occasions. I cannot express enough how beautiful<\/p>\n<p>the comets and the Harvest Moon, how bright yellow and lonely,<\/p>\n<p>what a canary it is, there in the dark, dark mine of the sky.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My trouble is there is no box for memories, ideas, worries.<\/p>\n<p>There is only the mind, and it will not take another name.<\/p>\n<p>I sift my miscellany through my fingers like sand.<\/p>\n<p>I love this starry explosion.
