The few rooms that have been mine<\/p>\n<p>I know by heart down to the turtle-shaped smudge on the mirror,<\/p>\n<p>inspiration gathers like dust under the bed<\/p>\n<p>saturated I wait for the night to fall. A screech of an owl<\/p>\n<p>might tear it open, but the moon within the branches<\/p>\n<p>is trapped in clich\u00e9s. I confess my mind is a boomerang that\u2019s fixed<\/p>\n<p>to a vocabulary of the familiar. Pinned to my wall is the poetry<\/p>\n<p>of departures. I should pack my bags now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sohini Basak<\/strong> is a student of literature at St. Stephen\u2019s College, New Delhi.
