{"id":3919,"date":"2013-01-20T09:00:49","date_gmt":"2013-01-20T09:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=3919"},"modified":"2013-01-20T09:57:25","modified_gmt":"2013-01-20T09:57:25","slug":"jason-sturner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/jason-sturner\/","title":{"rendered":"Jason Sturner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Morning Rain<br \/>\n<em>for Kelly Sturner<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nThis morning there was much rain,<br \/>\nforcing the birds into trees,<br \/>\nthe butterflies beneath leaves.<\/p>\n<p>I stand at the open window,<br \/>\nlistening for the cool silence<br \/>\nbetween raindrops.<\/p>\n<p>I begin to wonder<br \/>\nabout time machines,<br \/>\nabout being fully absorbed into the future:<\/p>\n<p>The full view of a sunset<br \/>\nfrom our porch chairs,<br \/>\na cat resting at our feet.<br \/>\nFaces aged, a hand<br \/>\nholding a hand.<\/p>\n<p>And the wind<br \/>\ncomes down from flowered hills,<br \/>\nfilling the home with fragrances.<br \/>\nEverything is golden orange<br \/>\nlike a softly glowing jewel.<\/p>\n<p>I blink and turn from the window.<br \/>\nAnother routine day begins.<br \/>\nThe echoes of my heartbeat<br \/>\nwill mingle with the rain.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jason Sturner<\/strong> grew up in the Fox River Valley area of Illinois, where he has worked as an elevator operator, rock drummer, graphic designer, naturalist and botanist.
