this girl who isn\u2019t me,<\/span>

this thin white one,<\/span>
this bare-knuckled beauty<\/span>

who lives in the wallpaper,<\/span>
thin as wallpaper,<\/span>

this bruise-eyed darling, <\/span>
this one I\u2019m half in love with,<\/span>

Who lives in the wall, <\/span>
tap-tapping her urgent warnings, <\/span>

the ones I adhere to<\/span>
in this narrow dark corridor,<\/span>

where she\u2019s stock still,<\/span>
stuck still,<\/span>

open mouthed,<\/span>
shrunk into the skirting board,<\/span>

fingering a crack, <\/span>
this white-thighed girl, <\/span>

darting now, <\/span>
a shadow <\/span>

naked down the hall, <\/span>
searching for a shower \u2013<\/span>

his thin line of sweat,<\/span>
early evening stubble \u2013<\/span>

when she shouldn\u2019t<\/span>
even be here.<\/span>
