My Favourite Walk into the City<\/span>
 <\/span>
Skirting the westward end,<\/span>
Along the borderline of the twin cities,<\/span>
Under train tracks that dive to the heart of one<\/span>
And to the head of the other.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Across the bridge in the shadow of Hatshepsut\u2019s monolith,<\/span>
While silverbellied planes sail over and beneath, carry on<\/span>
Between glass buildings in a progression<\/span>
Through law courts, bookmakers, old houses of theology,<\/span>
 <\/span>
To the Chinese chef smoking in the alley,<\/span>
His sad hat leaning to one side.<\/span>
The rock-star and his girlfriend are in the graveyard<\/span>
Beneath the old cathedral. <\/span>
 <\/span>
Now, I sit in the street with a pint of Brooklyn,<\/span>
And let it all exist.<\/span>
The day weaves its arcs across the city<\/span>
And I miss so much of what goes on.<\/span>
