For You<\/span>

The grocery clerk turns red<\/span>
as my wife yells at me<\/span>
something about not enough money.<\/span>

But, I don't react<\/span>
till we get back to the car<\/span>
then we have at it.<\/span>

See,<\/span>
I don't like arguing in public<\/span>
that's just what the people want<\/span>
something to talk about at home<\/span>
some excitement in their empty<\/span>
grocery store lives.<\/span>

I'd rather write it down<\/span>
so that it's just between you<\/span>
and me and only you<\/span>
will know how I truly feel.<\/span>

Satisfaction<\/span>

don't need a wife<\/span>
don't need a friend<\/span>
two sweet dogs<\/span>
cupful of silence<\/span>
and<\/span>
a brand new hat.<\/span>
