The Weight<\/span>
 <\/span>
it was the lips, blackberry, bloody<\/span>
and dried up,<\/span>
I touched them, and I touched<\/span>
the ribcage the breast the hands the thighs the legs<\/span>
the stitched seam running the length<\/span>
and I\u2019m not sorry<\/span>
 <\/span>
the weight of the dead<\/span>
and the nerve of the dead <\/span>
 <\/span>
I have written a thousand poems for her mouth<\/span>
and her body<\/span>
you can\u2019t tell me<\/span>
she never heard or listened<\/span>
I see her at the bus stop all the time<\/span>
 <\/span>

did the moon take you<\/span>
up ladders<\/span>
propped against<\/span>
shaken barns?<\/span>

did you scuttle<\/span>
through skeletal walls<\/span>
to find your skull<\/span>
as empty<\/span>
as the hurrying night?<\/span>

did you run, moonlit<\/span>
through the alder copse<\/span>
to be imprisoned<\/span>
by shadows?<\/span>

where did you go last night<\/span>
when you closed<\/span>
your eyes<\/span>
against me?<\/span>
