Air Passages<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

I<\/p>\n

I want to write you new poems on the back of some abandoned ones;
\nI folded the paper up in my rucksack and left town on a train<\/p>\n

God is closing down in this town of mine
\nand pigeons are resting on the eaves of the church.
\nThere isn’t anything to listen to except the sound of cars.
\nIf it exists then it exists as a house without any walls,
\nand I am in it now, as I was in it then<\/p>\n

II<\/p>\n

There was money in my dreams, it had gotten there,
\nwhen I laid asleep on the other side of the earth,
\nmoney whipped around a windy car park in the rain,<\/p>\n

everything blew irretrievable, an old woman collapsed in pain.
\nI was repeating the word again and again, money, massagemetro.com\/shop\/<\/a> money, money,
\nsaying it over and over again, while everything blew away
\n <\/p>\n

III<\/p>\n

Square heat in houses
\nleaks into the atmosphere
\noutside<\/p>\n

the formless above
\ndroning like a roadless dream.
\nListen<\/p>\n

your church is roofless
\nthe walls are unfastening
\nlike clouds<\/p>\n

 
\nIV<\/p>\n

Looking at a derelict block,
\nseeing air clear through
\nthe other side,<\/p>\n

the evening moving fluid and unfixed
\nthrough metal frames of seats where bodies sat,
\npigeons flying up and down through absent floors.<\/p>\n

Air for rent, beside Bristol railway station,
\nbuilt around, lived in, then deserted
\nfor the seagulls and pigeons
\nto nest;<\/p>\n

air for rent, money in the air,
\nbuilt around, held inside,
\nlet out like a breath
\nin time<\/p>\n
