Praeger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Jurisdictional Tiff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even paced exiting into the irregular,<br \/>\ndark marks the last least surface,<br \/>\nan incongruous resident&#8217;s hacking cough<br \/>\nshort-circuits each breath.<br \/>\nSuch reassurance as there is,<br \/>\npicking larkspur in mid-winter,<br \/>\ntwo-stepping through miasmal temporality,<br \/>\ncapturing handfuls of a heavy surf.<br \/>\nCovered in seaweed, crowned with sunlight,<br \/>\nI watch small arthropods disappear down a damp sandy beach,<br \/>\nthe undulating reaches dwindling to a horizonal edge,<br \/>\nimagining a sapphirine octopus,<br \/>\nunreal dream drops of blood,<br \/>\nthe rest clawing into view.<br \/>\nThe night and its melodies<br \/>\naddressing tidal remains<br \/>\nwhich only the repetitive concludes<br \/>\nsifted through a syntactical mesh,<br \/>\nas a recent newscast bequeaths<br \/>\nmore than unlikely stories<br \/>\na maverick scholar seeks to refute,<br \/>\nwhile, just as unlikely, a cat on a window sill moves,<br \/>\nas a mouse in a corner hunches, absolute and still.<br \/>\nThe newest newscast tells<br \/>\nof a possible intrigue<br \/>\nbetween people I have never met,<br \/>\nin a city I have never been to.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frank C.
