I\u2019m recommending Heartsease to still<\/span>
the tear that rolls,<\/span>
the brain that churns,<\/span>
the springing cry in the chest that waits<\/span>
as if in ambush.<\/span>
If the Furies have your scent<\/span>
you must need mercy – <\/span>
that strain of mercy that Athena metes out <\/span>
with her scales, her grey eyes.<\/span>
Even Helen stirred Heartsease in her wine<\/span>
with a grimy finger,<\/span>
when she saw the damage done:<\/span>
how hell had dawned within her arms.<\/span>
Her wan face regained its charm.<\/span>
Look how it comes, clean,<\/span>
a blister-pack of swan\u2019s eggs; <\/span>
new moons.<\/span>
You should take it.<\/span>
Take it.   <\/span>
