This slow reveal<br \/>\nof armature is beginning<\/p>\n<p>to tell. You can see it<br \/>\nin everyone who entered this age<br \/>\nbefore you, bowed and stripped<\/p>\n<p>of their plush, as forms shift<br \/>\nfrom convex to concave<br \/>\nand shadows collect in dips.<\/p>\n<p>Watch your mother\u2019s hands<br \/>\nas she eats or drinks, her gold rings<br \/>\njiggling as rucked bands<\/p>\n<p>of epidermis move over muscle<br \/>\nand her face pleats and crimps.<br \/>\nNothing can halt this schedule,<\/p>\n<p>no deluge reverse a process<br \/>\nthat ends with the body\u2019s works<br \/>\nquietening in the air\u2019s dry breath.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sue Rose<\/strong>\u2019s 3rd collection from Cinnamon Press, <i>Scion<\/i>, is due out in 2020.
