\nthere would be more chance of fish.
\nEven in this she is fated
\nto be left wanting.<\/p>\n
\nshe crunches the lot herself \u2013
\ncalcium beneficial to ageing bones,<\/p>\n
\ndarting away from human attention,
\ntail up, claws ready.<\/p>\n
\nbehind an abandoned bungalow,
\nshe licks her paws, draws them back
\nsoft over her skull to wash silken ears.<\/p>\n
\nso night is to be savoured,
\ngreen eyes watchful for the shop\u2019s delivery of milk.<\/p>\n
